Salesforce makes life easier with its latest releases

Easy set up with Setup Assistant, easy enablement of features in Email Studio, easy Send Time Optimization, easy queries with Query Studio and more …

A summary of the Salesforce Marketing Cloud August and October 2019 releases

Let’s start at the beginning: Configuring your Marketing Cloud has never been more simple. Setup Assistant will guide you through the process. Along the way, you will have easy access to learning recources like Trailhead, documentation and webinars. Even better: Setup assistant is always available in your admin dashboard, so you can go back to it whenever you want!

From around mid- November you can enable one or more of these useful Email Optional features in Setup, without having to contact Salesforce Customer Support:

        • HTML Paste
        • Double Opt-In
        • From Name Dropdown of Users
        • Send Throttling
        • BCC Emails
        • Impression Tracking
        • Text-only Email

Already available since the August release is the Einstein-powered Send Time Optimization. Use it to analyze and discover the optimal hour of the next day or the next week for sending your email. Find out how the optimization model calculates the recommended timing on your analytics dashboard. The new Einstein Send Time Optimization app is available in the app exchange. You can also use Einstein STO in Journey Builder activity’s configuration options.

Speaking of Journey Builder: Salesforce has removed the tracking hover from the Email Activity so that you can quickly access the email activity performance metrics by clicking the activity. This makes the configuration and analytics framework for the Email Activity consistent with other Journey Builder activities.

In the Ad Audience Activity in Journey Builder, you can now use Facebook Advanced Match. This expands the number of attributes, to improve match rates and achieve a higher return on your advertising spend. Note: this feature is only available if you have an Advertising Studio license.

With the latest Google Analytics 360 Integration in the October 2019 Release, you will be able to see how SMS activities in journeys impact the web conversion path of your customers in single and multi-channel journeys. You can compare and contrast your customers’ behaviour in journeys across multiple channels at once. This helps you understand which channels perform best.

Query Studio is a new app in the App Exchange we are really excited about. With Query Studio, you don’t have to create a data extension to write and run queries in Marketing Cloud. Use Query Studio to develop queries.  You can validate your query against a target data extension to find rows that can’t be inserted due to mismatched data types, incorrect lengths, or missing fields. Query Studio creates temporary data extensions, with a data retention set to auto-delete after 24 hours, in the QueryStudioResults folder in your Data Extensions folder. Each time you run a query in Query Studio, a new Data Extension is created. Read more about Query Studio on Zuzanna Jarczynska’s excellent blog.

In Automation Studio, you can solve query activity issues without engaging support. To help you troubleshoot more easily, the automation log includes more detailed, explanatory error messages.

Contact Connector for Social Studio can give you a more complete picture of your customer. You can see, for instance, if they have a case open in Service Cloud. Contact Connector also shows whether a customer has a social persona in Salesforce. After you link a Salesforce account to Social Studio, Contact Connector displays a post author’s Salesforce record, if they have one. View the post author information to see it.

Deployment Manager.  With this app you can copy the design and relationships of your contact model into another account or business unit. Create a snapshot of an attribute group and upload it to another business unit or account. Deployment Manager recreates only the design of the original attribute group and underlying data extensions. It doesn’t store or recreate the data in the new data extensions. It creates attribute groups rather than overwriting or updating preexisting ones.

The October 2019 Marketing Cloud release occurs October 12 through November 1. The Social Studio release occurs on October 26, 2019. Some features will be made available to your instance within a week of the release.
